Is it legal to access an applicant's bank account data?

Yes, absolutely. Applicants provide explicit consent and connect their accounts voluntarily. We're FCRA compliant and follow all Fair Housing regulations. The applicant controls the connection and can revoke access at any time.

How long does the verification process take?

The entire process takes approximately 5–10 minutes. The applicant first completes identity verification (document upload and selfie), then securely connects their bank account. Once connected, our AI analyzes the data and generates a comprehensive report in about 3 minutes.

What if my applicant doesn't have online banking?

The vast majority of renters use online banking. However, for the small percentage who don't, you can still use traditional screening methods. Tenant Scan is designed to make the process faster and more thorough for the 95%+ of applicants with online banking.

Is applicant data secure?

Security is our top priority. We use bank-level 256-bit encryption and never store banking credentials. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We only access read-only transaction data necessary for verification.

How accurate is the fraud detection?

Our fraud detection uses advanced machine learning and network graph analysis across millions of users, devices, and accounts to spot fraud that is invisible when looking at a single application in isolation. Combined with identity verification (document + selfie matching), stolen identity risk scoring, synthetic identity detection, cross-network fraud reporting, and behavioral risk analytics, we catch fraud that traditional credit checks miss.

Can I use this for commercial properties?

Yes, Tenant Scan works for both residential and commercial tenant screening. Our system adapts to different verification needs based on property type.

What happens if the verification fails?

Our system uses multiple levels of verification and will automatically retry if a step cannot be completed. It is important that applicants select the primary bank account(s) used for direct deposits and rental payments. If the applicant does not connect the appropriate accounts, the report will still be generated based on the data provided, but it may be missing key information such as income or rental payment history. Since the report was processed on the data the applicant chose to provide, this does not qualify for a refund.
